The Camp Itinerary

Alaska Campsite
Day 1: Arriving at Anchorage International Airport in Anchorage, Alaska, your Alpenguides will greet you and introduce you to the rest of your group for general camp introductions before hopping in the van for a drive to our first campsite. At the campsite, we'll continue getting to know each other, learn how to set up our tents and enjoy the first of many delicious and fresh camp gourmet meals before our first evening of tent camping with new friends. Camping near Anchorage, AK.
Day 2: Yoga in the morning followed by a delicious, filling breakfast and more camp introductions and games. We’ll have a bit of a drive to do today that will bring us to camping near Seward, AK and close to our trailhead for backpacking tomorrow.
Note: Yoga is an integral part of all Alpengirl camp itineraries and the start to most days.
Day 3-6: Backpacking in the mountains for 4 days and 3 nights. An introduction to backpacking includes learning how to properly pack, adjust and carry your backpack. We’ll lighten our load and only pack essential clothing, food and gear. Then, leaving our van and extra gear behind, we'll grab our cameras and backpack for a round-trip total of about 16 miles to a high mountain lake surrounded by a huge expanse of alpine country with grand views of the Kenai Mountains all around us. Showers, laundry, and food re-supply in Seward upon completion of the backpack. Camping near Seward again.

Sea Kayaking in Alaska
Day 7: An afternoon of whitewater rafting on Class IV rapids on Six Mile Creek. This river has been considered for National Wild and Scenic River designation - narrow canyons, lush vegetation and exhilarating rapids. Our rafting trip begins with a fun river training swim and ends with a fabulous swim after the rapids. Camping near Silvertip, AK.
Day 8: Today we’ll arrive in Whittier, AK where we will meet our sea kayaking guides for a pre-kayaking meeting. Today is a day for trip preparations, Alpenolympic games and rest. Camping near Whittier.
Day 9-12: Multi-day sea kayaking adventure! For 4 days we’ll get all geared up, hop in our double kayaks and paddle in Prince William Sound. This area encompasses thousands of miles of protected waterways, islands, fjords, as well as 10,000 glaciers and offers a full spectrum of wildlife including whales, porpoise, sea otters, sea lions, and seals. Days are spent paddling our way through ice floe in the glaciated areas of the Bay and taking short day hikes to places like Lawrence Glacier or to the top of Willard Island. The sights and sounds of the actively calving glaciers from the unique viewpoint of our ocean kayaks will be a memorable highlight of our trip together! Each evening we’ll have our fill of delicious food, friendship and laughter under the softly lit blue-sky bliss of an Alaskan summer night. Showers and laundry are waiting for us upon completion of our kayaking trip together.
Day 13: It’s back to Anchorage for some souvenir shopping and our traditional end of session awards ceremony. Camping near Anchorage.
Day 14: Departing from Anchorage International Airport in Anchorage, Alaska. See you next summer!
