Highlights

The Camp Itinerary

Ready to hit the Trail

Day 1: Arriving at Gallatin Field Airport in Bozeman, MT, your Alpenguides will greet you and introduce you to the rest of your group for general camp introductions before hopping in the van for a drive to our first campsite. We’ll have lots of travel snacks, good music and “getting to know you” games while we drive.  Upon arrival to our campsite, we’ll learn how to set up our tents and play introduction to camp games. We’ll enjoy the first of many delicious and fresh camp gourmet meals before our first evening of tent camping with new friends. Camping.

Day 2: Yoga in the morning and a full day of camp fun and Alpenolympic games. Girls will have an opportunity to build a campfire on their own and cook a campfire meal and finish it off with s’mores! Camping same.

Note: Yoga is an integral part of all Alpengirl camp itineraries and the start to most days.

Day 3-6: An introductory and leisurely backpacking trip for 4 days and 3 nights.  An introduction to backpacking includes learning how to properly pack, adjust and carry your backpack. We’ll lighten our load and only pack essential clothing, food and gear. Then, leaving our van and extra gear behind, we'll grab our cameras and backpack 4-5 miles into the mountains. We may camp in one place for all 3 nights, or we may decide to continue backpacking to a new place each night while we are in the wilderness, it all depends on group interest and ability, weather and trail conditions. One of these backpacking evenings we’ll have Alpenolympic talent show entertainment. On the day that we end backpacking and return back to the trailhead and our van, we’ll have our last hooray together soaking at a nearby hot springs pool followed by the Alpenolympic bucket hair washing competition, and making our own camp pizza’s for our end of session awards ceremony.

Backpacking in Montana

Day 7: Departing from Gallatin Field Airport in Bozeman, Montana.  See you next summer!
