Known Superhuman Powers: Do you know the song about a Moose? Who likes to drink a lot of juice? If you don't, take a hike with Mooooose and a call and response song is sure to follow! Moose's power of making trail magic means every moment with her in the outdoors leaves you feeling the magic. Like her river-dwelling namesake, Moose loves to be outside, and near the water, no matter the weather: she's ready for snowy fun in the winter, and even more ready for summer swimming in lakes and rivers. We've never heard of a moose in the ocean, but Moose dares the chilly waters of the Pacific Northwest with a smile. She makes it look so fun, you might just have to take a dip, too!
Abilities: Moose loves to tell stories and fun facts from her adventures as an Alpengirl and a Zoo Guide. She loves trading one story for another and hearing from campers, knowing that storytelling is the start of community. Gather 'round the campfire with Moose, or wile away the miles on trail with her mental library of information about animals and conservation, her songs and riddles, and her ability to get conversation started and bring people together. No matter the occasion, Moose is excited to share the outdoors, prepared for adventure, and ready to bring a spark of humor and learning to the group.
History: Growing up on an island in the Puget Sound, Moose loved muddy walks in the woods, skiing in Mt. Rainier National Park, and boating on the Puget Sound. On a beautiful island without so much as a bowling alley, the best place to be was in the woods with the deer, muching on salmon berries. During her first two summers of high school she volunteered at a zoo, teaching guests about the animals and how to protect their wild cousins.
More recently, Moose’s family moved to Twin Falls, ID to start a new adventure. She is overjoyed to have left Seattle traffic behind and loves exploring all her new home state has to offer: hot springs (and not-so-hot-springs), beautiful mountains, and rivers galore. She currently teaches skiing at the local ski area, and although there is no zoo in Twin Falls, she is an active member of the environmental club and loves to teach her community about recycling and clean energy.
After many years exploring with Alpengirl as a camper, she can’t wait to come back to Alpengirl as an assistant guide and pass on some of her experience and help create fun new adventures for all the Alpengirls she gets to meet. Moose is certified in Wilderness First Aid, CPR, and Lifeguarding.
Current Base and Operations: Twin Falls, ID. Moose graduated high school the spring of 2021 and can’t wait to attend college this year. Meanwhile, she'll be adventuring in the Sawtooth wilderness with her family and swimming in cold canyon springs with friends!
