Known Superhuman Powers: Did you know that each raspberry is actually dozens of fruit in one yummy bundle? Raspberry loves noticing the little things- her attention to detail is unmatched! Whether it’s planning the teensiest details of the perfect trip or seeing how each person’s individuality makes a group a gorgeous whole, she’s sure to make a welcoming space where everyone and every minute is valued.
Abilities: Raspberry has the ability to look closely at things and recognize their beauty and possibilities. A fantastic problem solver, eager listener, and a constant source of wonder, Raspberry is sure to bring intentionality to relationships and itineraries. She probably knows where the missing gear is, can always think up a fun way to spend downtime, and constantly inspires curiosity for all the stunning things Momma Nature does!
History: Raspberry grew up in Mooresville, NC, where she learned to love spending time outdoors. Whether it was gardening with her grandparents, building forts with her sister, or racing around with her dog, Raspberry grew to love the smell of the earth and the feeling of leaves underfoot. At a mere 2 1⁄2 years old, her father took her on her first whitewater canoe adventure. Though too young to remember it, Raspberry has carried her love and JOY for the sport ever since. Whether making the canoe dance, or literally dancing in the canoe, Raspberry has traveled the east coast in search of rapids and misty sunrises on the water. She worked as a whitewater canoe instructor for 4 summers, while discovering fun, new sports. Nowadays, you can find her climbing, backpacking, hiking, and of course-paddling in a canoe! More recently, she decided to take the long way to the beach, spending 16 days paddling from her home to the Atlantic Ocean. Raspberry eventually moved into the heart of her mountainous playground: Asheville, NC. There she attends the University of North Carolina at Asheville, where she studies biology. Of course, this means making many stops on outdoor adventures to check out amazing plants and animals! She also works for her university’s Outdoor Program, where she gets to share multiple sports and the wonders of bald eagles, hellbenders, and breathtaking biodiversity with others. Raspberry is Wilderness First Responder, CPR, and Swiftwater Rescue certified.
Current Base and Operations: Asheville, NC. You can find Raspberry painting her nails on grassy summits in the Appalachian Mountains and waiting for warm days to get back out on the water. In the meantime, she’s thinking of yummy meals to make, new adventures to go on, and all the outdoor magic she’ll get to witness with Alpengirls this summer!
