Sage

Real Name: Hayley F
Occupation: Alpenguide, Birth Doula
Aliases: Bookworm, Hayley Bug
Birthplace: Fayetteville, AR
Age: 24

Known Superhuman Powers: Just as the sage plant is used medicinally to increase one’s capacity to deal with stress, when the going gets tough, Sage invites campers to push through and stretch their comfort zones. She loves creating fun challenges (like the legendary ketchup S’more!) and encouraging campers to try new things, so campers know that they can persevere and have great times and find success even when faced with challenges.

Abilities: She values ritual and ceremony in everyday life, and knows it can bring campers in closer connection with each other. She knows every day is worthy of gratitude and learning. There’s never a dull moment around Sage. She is able to turn any transitory space (van rides, waiting for dinner) into something interesting and fun. She’s always got a game up her sleeve, a song to sing along to, or a way we can all pitch in around camp while waiting for the next event.

History: Sage grew up in the Ozark mountains of Northwest Arkansas, and moved to Idaho after graduating from the University of Arkansas with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. She has worked as a backpacking guide for summer camps in Colorado and guided trips for college students in Texas, Colorado, and Arkansas. Her favorite outdoor adventure is river canoe expeditions, but you're much more likely to find her backpacking. In 2022, she camped 96 times, that’s 1 out of every 4 nights! She holds Wilderness First Responder, LNT and CPR certifications.

Current Base & Operations: Sandpoint, ID. In the off season, Sage works as a birth doula and when she’s not empowering women through this work, she can often be often shredding the slopes at the local ski area.
