(Wild)Flowerchild

Real Name: Natalie Rose
Occupation: Alpengirl Program Director, Ski Resort Management, Snowsports Instructor, Bike Guide
Aliases: Rose, Moonchild
Birthplace: Belleville, IL
Age: 27

Known Superhuman Powers: Similar to pressing wildflowers in a book, Flowerchild is here to help you make memories that will last forever! Her knack for finding the best little moments is matched only by her ability to share them with everyone - she has the gift of storytelling, and can take any snippet in time and turn it into a tale commemorating her wild quests. Any adventure with Flowerchild is sure to be one for the books!

Abilities: True to her name, Flowerchild is happiest under an open sky, not surrounded by four walls. As a perpetual optimist, it is rare to find her without a smile: whether the day brings rain, snow or sunshine Flowerchild will always lean toward the bright side. Like an alpine bloom, she thrives with mountaintop views, and loves to help others reach them as well. Her favorite places cannot be reached by motorized vehicles, so naturally her preferred modes of transportation are bicycle (mountain, road and gravel) or skis (nordic and alpine). If the trails are not suited for gear, she simply will hike to the final destination! There’s no stopping Flowerchild - willpower and determination have carried her up and over many obstacles. She knows there’s always more than one way to reach a goal, so little can stop her from attaining them. Like all good things, she believes talents should not be kept hidden, and she excels at helping others develop their confidence to shine too!

History: Flowerchild was raised in a tiny map dot town in southern Illinois not far from the Shawnee National Forest. It was there, during summers spent running through the woods or swimming in lakes with family and friends that she first fell in love with the great outdoors.

After high school she attended Culinary School (get ready for adventures in the backcountry kitchen!), and upon graduation flew to Hawaii to work as a chef for Norwegian Cruise lines. Her work took her from the Pacific to the Rockies, where she truly experienced the unparalleled joys of living in the mountains.

Living in Colorado, she was introduced to backcountry exploration, and feeling the need for a break, she hung up her chef's hat and became a guide for a bicycle tour company in Skagway Alaska. Here she lost her heart to the untouched wilderness and raw beauty of The Last Frontier. It only took one summer for her to move from the Food & Beverage world towards a career immersed in Mother Nature's many wonders. Since then, she’s spent time in Alaska when the nights are shorter, and the lower 48 during the winter months, most recently along the North Shore of Lake Superior. Needless to say, seasonal life suits her well. Flowerchild is Wilderness First Aid, CPR, and Lifeguard certified.

Current Base & Operations: Flowerchild is spending the winter as the Ski School Director/Lift Operations Manager at Lutsen Mountains Ski Resort in Northern Minnesota. She is excited for the Alpengirl Adventure this summer, and looks forward to new places and new faces alike!
