Idaho and Montana Alpengirl CampCamp Journal - Saturday July 8, 2023:

Today we rode through the meadows with huge mountains as our backdrop and the wind kept the temperature in the prime and the sun shining on us and the mosquitoes away and all campers did well adjusting to their horses. Blue skies lit the way as we made our way to the top of a ridge where we had lunch - sandwiches and ants on a log! We were sitting right on top of state boundaries - Idaho and Montana on the continental divide and it seemed the mT side was a lot prettier to us:) The peaceful perfect ride today gave perspective on how lucky we are to be here in this gorgeous place with these views surrounded by friends and horses! Today was a good day and we’re grateful for the group we are sharing this time with in the backcountry. It’s so hard leaving the familiar and the comfortable and there are constant ups and downs and but once you get adjusted, it’s so worth it!

Camp Journal - Monday July 10, 2023:

Today we rode into hidden Montana valleys and hills, the sun was out and not a cloud in the sky - we passed sunscreen from camper to camper on horseback and carefully applied as we rode the horse toward two caves in the distance at the top of a mountain where had lunch and did a hike. It was quite a wonderful view!

We got back to base camp and everyone participated in the “Duke challenge” which involves a cool horse named Duke! Tonight we had Campfire with Pocket Stew and S’mores and laughed hard and loud at the Alpenolympic Talent Show. The Alpenguides came up with an opening act - a bit of singing, dancing to thrill our crowd of Alpengirls who also participated and showed their fun talents, it was a hoot! Our final day in the backcountry could not have gone better, and to be honest it was hard to get the girls to get to bed that night, we didn’t want the day to end. We’ve had a lot of fun in the backcountry and created cherished memories that will last a lifetime. Next up we have showers, laundry, Yellowstone & Teton National Parks, white water rafting followed by our final hurray - pizza party and awards ceremony, thanks for the fun and precious memories Alpengirls of Yellowstone Horseback Adventure I!
