Hip hip hooray to all these ladies that crushed their 40-mile, 6-day backpacking trip! We just got out of the backcountry after a very successful trip in the North Cascades. Despite all the usual aches, pains, bug bites, and blisters, our girls persevered and made it through every single mile.
We started our route with a short 3.5 miles to our first campsite encountering some wet weather along the way. Despite the rainy conditions we set up camp and had a yummy first dinner of chicken and rice!
The next day we set off on our steepest climb of the trip. A hefty 6 miles up to our hidden meadows campsite, having lunch at a lake along the way. Although it was a long battle, once we made it to the campsite, the views were so worth it! The mountains were on full display.
Our third day featured the most challenging hike of them all, a 12.5 mile backpack to the delicious Stehekin Pastry Co! We set off in the dark at a ripe 4 am in order to make it to the bakery before closing time. It may have seemed slow in the moment but we ended up making it to our treats at an early 1:30 pm! It gave us four hours of a fruitful rest before shuttling to our next campsite and enjoying our Ramen with Toppings Dinner.
The fourth day was a quick and easy 5 miles after our three days of conditioning, to a creekside campsite where we enjoyed a swim and Lady Daisy Party in Clear Creek.
Our final full day of hiking was a loaded 8 miles with some steep uphills. Although, meeting many friendly PCT hikers kept our spirits up! After making it to our final hideaway campsite, we enjoyed some Backcountry Shepherd’s Pie and a yummy Tiramisu before hitting the hay.
After that, it was just a quick 5 miles to the van before making our way to Anacortes, WA for showers and laundry and preparing for our three day sea kayaking adventure!
We are all very excited to hit the water in a couple days. But here’s some highlights of the girls throughout our long days of hiking!
Kyla kept us moving with her constant positivity and excitement towards backpacking. Everyday brought new scenery and experiences!
Charlotte brought us constant laughs with her bright smile and go with the flow attitude. She may have taken a few tumbles but she was up and at ‘em every single time.
Sally gave us constant entertainment with her awesome singing and chatting. There isn’t a song that that girl doesn’t know the lyrics to!
Brooklyn kept us in line and refreshed with her military background. Even with the heaviest of packs she seemed to have a skip in her step.
Victoria gave us some amazing story telling moments around our fire pits (SANS FIRE BC FIRE BAN!). Her voice is so soothing and she has a spectacular cadence too!
Maya and Lilliana became quick buds and kept us upbeat with their endless energy. Much needed during our longer days!
With Jorie around, we could always count on staying relaxed. Balance and mindfulness was key!
Sevilla inspired us all with her grit and determination. There wasn’t a hill she couldn’t tackle!
