Greetings from Port Angeles, WA! We’re on our way to the NW Coast on Olympic National Park from an exciting day of sea kayaking in the Straits of Juan de Fuca. After a big breakfast of overnight raspberry oats, we headed to met out guides from the local outfitting company who taught us all the ins and outs of kayaking and took us for a great day trip paddling into the blue waters where our Alpengirls saw seals, starfish, sea cucumbers and even raccoons hidden in the caves! We paddled in tandem kayaks and spent the morning exploring the sound. Yesterday we had a big 12 mile day hike out to a lighthouse on the end of the spit and we climbed 74 stairs to reach the top of the lighthouse! We saw a seal pup, a beached jellyfish and plenty of birds along the way. After a big dinner of roasted potatoes, chicken sausage, and veggies we played a get to know you game involving M&M’s before heading to bed. The girls are in good spirits and gearing up for three days of backpacking on the coast! Catch you on Saturday - we’ll post another blog and photo when we get done with backpacking on Saturday night or Sunday morning!
