oregon coast campers and guides surf and enjoy beach time

Hello from the Coast! We have made it to the beach and are soaking up all the sun we can get! After a long drive from Mt. Saint Helens and a scenic dance party, we arrived at Cape Disappointment State Park on Saturday night. The girls set up camp just in time before some rain rolled in. We made a warm dinner and gathered around the campfire for the evening. Our LOD, Charlotte H was surprised with a care package of fun and smiles to share with her fellow campers. We played games, roasted marshmallows, and painted nails before a much-needed slumber! Sunday morning we go fancy in the kitchen whipping up some pancakes with almond butter and fresh fruit per the girl's request and hit the beach! The sun came out giving the group a chance to swim and build sand creations all afternoon. Before lunch, we took time to reflect on our experience thus far together in nature. The group split up on the beach to complete their Alpenessays, writing inspiring words about how Alpengirl has empowered and improved them in different ways! After lunch, we hiked around camp to some beautiful ocean views and a lighthouse. We ended our night with a legendary Alpengirl Variety Show hosted by Miss Lila. There were dances and skits, all leaving us short on breath from laughing. We celebrated the day with some smores and hit the hay!

Monday morning was an early one, greeted with rain and some sneaky raccoons. The girls hustled on packing up camp to make it to Surf Lessons in Seaside, OR. We had three amazing female surf teachers who were so helpful and caring. We spent a full day in wetsuits and the girls caught handfuls of waves! There were smiles for miles and the stoke was high! The majority of the group said they loved surfing and wanted to keep it up in the future. After surfing we made it to our final camp, Nehalem Bay State Park, and moved on in. Despite being a bit tired and sunkissed we didn’t stop the fun. We played group games, had a quesadilla bar, and put on an iconic Alpengirl Costume Contest. Maddie H was surprised with a care package full of silly costume pieces to share and treats alike. We made a runway and paraded around camp towards the beach. We were greeted with the most beautiful sunset of rays above the waves. We were all in awe of this magical beach and had a blast ending the night together.

Coming back to bed, 10 of the girls decided to brave the night and cowboy camp together under the stars. They loved the experience of waking up to the sun and hopping right into some yoga on the sand. This morning the girls are feeling bittersweet about their last full day together. They’ve made a close-knit family of friends here and don’t want to leave each other or us Alpenguides. Now we are off to play and have our end-of-session party in Cannon Beach, we hope to end this incredible trip with a bang!!
