Our Mother-Daughter duos take on sea kayaking in the Pacific Ocean!

Yesterday, we picked up our mother-daughter teams and made the drive out to Crescent Beach! We stoped along the way to admire the Tacoma Narrows floating bridge, play some silly games, and learn Alpengirl norms! Once we got to our gorgeous campsite we had some time to explore the beach before we set up our family tents! We had delicious welcome burritos, and did an m&m icebreaker activity to get to know each other! During the m&m activity, our mom Kate from Ohio was especially inclusive and encouraged everyone to share some of their favorite places and activities! With full bellies and all smiles we ended our day back on the beach watching the orange glow of the Pacific Northwest sunset sneak behind the mountains!

This morning we woke up to the sound of the waves! Karlin, our first LOD, woke up early to have tea with the guides! We enjoyed egg-strodinary breakfast sandwiches, and Manpreet proved to be an expert in slicing avocados!

Then we hopped in the van to go sea kayaking! Nisreen has been kayaking before and was a great boost of confidence to people who were feeling nervous. Once we got on the water everyone was excited and able to see lots of sea creatures! Exploring tide pools and sandy coves, Lucy got to hold a baby starfish. Melissa was often the leader of the group with her fierce and strong paddle strokes! Nevaaz made everyone giggle when she pointed out a rock that looked like a marshmallow and compared colonies of seaweed to the grocery isle floating in the Strait of San Juan de Fuca off the shores of Port Angeles. After kayaking, we enjoyed our Italian party subs under a pergola of shade and ocean breeze before heading back to the campsite for some chill time.

We are so excited to leave for backpacking tomorrow! Rialto Beach here we come!
