Olympic Rainforest to Beach Alpengirls in Washington have done an amazing job with leadership, group skills and hiking skills! The group had fantastic, bluebird weather every single day, a great itinerary, girls handled mileage really well, the staff couldn't ask for a better group of girls. On the second day of backpacking, the Alpenguides woke up and discovered they had become what can only be described as "silent zombies," and the girls were challenged to lead 3/4 of the day as a group and they excelled at it. Each day during backpacking the girls swam in a high mountain lake and enjoyed seeing the clear views of Mt Olympus and it's glacier in the distance. On the last day of backpacking the girls hiked ice 7 miles in just over 3 hours, bomber! Food has been plentiful and good with BBQ Chicken and Veg Subs and Thai Soup last night. Alpenolympic event last night was the Oreo challenge - lick and stick an Oreo to your forehead and wiggle it down without touching it or dropping it to eat it! They enjoyed a hot spring soak and showers at Sol Duc last night and today they are off to Canada.
