Our Washington Disco crew just wrapped up their very first backcountry backpacking adventure, and what an incredible few days it was!
From the moment we hit the trail, this group showed amazing perseverance, resilience, and character. While the Pacific Northwest definitely lived up to its reputation with plenty of rain, the weather couldn’t dampen anyone’s spirits. Through every drizzle, muddy trail, and soggy campsite, the giggles never stopped, proving that the best adventures are often the messiest ones!
The girls kept their eyes peeled for wildlife and were rewarded with some incredible sightings. Along the coast, we spotted playful seals, striking black-and-white oyster catchers, colorful sea stars, swaying anemones, and more banana slugs than we could count. Every tide pool and stretch of beach brought something new to discover.

This group also had so many individual highlights worth celebrating:
Livi stepped up to lead the group while earning her Navigation bead, confidently helping us find our way and always lending a hand around camp.
Aria embraced every opportunity for adventure while exploring the tide pools, helping the group spot some amazing marine life tucked between the rocks.
Berkeley discovered some of the coolest beach shells we’ve ever seen and brought endless energy to the trip, even majestically running through flocks of shore birds. She kept everyone laughing and smiling with her fun-loving spirit.
Eslyn was an outstanding Leader of the Day, keeping the group grounded and motivated with her calm confidence and consistently positive attitude.
Brooklyn adopted two very special “rock pets” named Shelly and Josh, who successfully completed the backpacking trip and have officially been packed out of the backcountry. They’re currently tucked in safely beside our tents!
Lyla has been such a compassionate Alpengirl, building connections throughout the group with her empathy, kindness, and perfectly timed jokes.

As for guides Payton and Claire – they couldn’t be happier. Watching this group encourage one another, embrace every challenge, and have so much fun together has made this first backpacking adventure an unforgettable success.
We are so proud of this crew for embracing the rain, supporting one another, and proving that adventure isn’t about perfect weather, it’s about the people you share it with. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the trip has in store!
