The Yellowstone Horseback Adventure II B girls have arrived in MT!
After meeting everyone in the airport, we drove through beautiful valleys and mountains to our campsite right by the river. We also got to listen to our new music playlist during the ride! On our first night together we enjoyed Alpengirl Welcome Burritos for dinner, then played our favorite get-to-know-you M&M game. We love how easily this group was able to open up to each other!
We woke up on Day 2 to a very colorful sunrise. The morning haze made the sun look extra orange as it rose over the mountains. Then we had our first morning yoga session, ate some scrumptious Strawberry Stuffed French Toast, and learned about all things related to camping outside!
A higlight of our camp talks for the girls was discussing and choosing what skill beads each of them are going to go for! After some careful thought, those for the Wilderness First Aid bead are Lily and Madeline; Yoga Bead contenders are Claire, Becca, and Adi; Lydia, Floranne, Madeline, Ava, and Marley are all going for their Water Bead; Claire, Becca, and Adi are going for their Yoga Bead; Horsepacking Skill Bead will be attempted by Claire, Lily, Floranne, Ava, and Alli; and Claire and Marley will be attempting their Camp Group Living Bead.
After getting excited about the Skill Beads, it was time for our river float (finally)! We started off getting silly in the tubes at camp pretending to be different animals (the koala was a particular favorite, pictured above!), and then spent the afternoon relaxing in our floats with our new friends and taking in the scenery around us. It was super hot outside but the water was the perfect refresher!
After our river float and once the heat dialed down a little, we had some afternoon snacks and headed to a natural hot spring to get more water time, soak, and relax! We had the whole hot spring to ourselves which was an exciting surprise 🙂
The night concluded with a yummy dinner and some tent-time. We are now looking forward to moving campsites and spending another day on the water — this time at a beautiful lake outside of Ennis, MT. We have a busy afternoon of packing ahead of us because tomorrow we’ll set out to do what everyone is looking forward to most: our 5-day backcountry horsepacking trip!
