Alpengirl Scholarship Opportunities

Alpengirl Campership applications will open October 15, 2026 for the 2027 season

Please apply via our online portal.

Alpengirl Camperships

We deeply believe in the value of our program — time spent away from home exploring nature, expanding one’s horizons, learning new and exciting skills, and making long-lasting friendships. We also recognize that the cost of attending a session may be beyond the reach of some families.

To help make our program more accessible, Alpengirl’s Campership program was established, with special thanks to the Burnt Lake Foundation, the American Camp Association, and donations from private families to provide tuition assistance to families who would not otherwise be able to afford to send their child to Alpengirl Camp.

Additionally, all of the funds raised from our Camp Photo packages go directly to supporting Alpengirl’s Campership program!

A big thank you to everyone who has continued to make Alpengirl more accessible for all!

Guidelines

Camperships are awarded based on financial need and camper program fit and as such, we ask that all applicants do their best to truly assess their ability to contribute to camp tuition.

The mission of our Campership program is to enable campers to attend whose families have no other means of sending their child to camp. If you have support from other family members or friends who are willing to contribute to your child’s tuition, please consider that when completing your application.

Additional Required Documentation

To apply for a Campership, please complete the application Google Form AND email the following to the Alpengirl Camp office at info@alpengirlcamp.com:

  • Documentation of financial need (IRS Form 1040 from most recent year). If this is not available at the time of your application, please estimate the current amount on the Campership Application and also include a copy of Form 1040 for the most recent year available. Please black out your social security number and any other sensitive information that is unrelated to your campership application.

  • Information regarding any unique circumstances not reflected in the application materials. The more information you can provide, the easier it is for us to make decisions that are consistent with the goals of the program.

  • Applications are accepted beginning October 15, 2026 for the 2027 Alpengirl Camp season. We encourage families to apply as early as possible as scholarship funds are limited.
  • All families will receive notice of their Campership decision at varying dates after applying.
  • The number and value of scholarships awarded is determined by available funding, and not all sessions are eligible for scholarships.
  • Partial Camperships are our only form of Campership. All families will be required to contribute a portion of tuition.

Once a Campership has been granted, we will attempt to prioritize that camper in future years should they:

  1. want to come back for an additional summer,
  2. still have financial need (validated by a new application each year) and
  3. were a positive addition to the camp community the previous summer (i.e. no behavioral issues).

Please note that no guarantee can be made for future Campership awards. This is only a commitment of intention to prioritize previous recipients to encourage a multi-summer experience.

Please be sure to also fill out an application for your chosen session on Alpengirl’s Campminder portal and communicate to camp leadership via info@alpengirlcamp.com that you are awaiting a scholarship decision.

Your camper will not be enrolled in your chosen session until after your Campership application is reviewed.

If your child receives a Campership, we would very much appreciate hearing from you, or your child, about their experience at camp. A note, letter, or email recounting their favorite activities, adventures, or memorable moments can be a tremendous help with future fundraising efforts.

Sharing a parent or camper’s authentic voice describing camp to potential donors can aid us greatly in securing future contributions.

The Kid For The Wild Scholarship

The Kid for the Wild scholarship is available to campers age 12-16 and is a tribute to the memory and vision of Walkin’ Jim Stotlz and his “kid for the wild” spirit.

$800 is awarded to 2 Alpengirl recipients each year, applications are due April 30, in addition to a fall application period. If you’re applying for this scholarship, PLEASE notify Alpengirl as soon as your application is submitted so that we can follow-up with the scholarship on your behalf.

Interested in donating?

Thank you for supporting future Alpengirls!

We are so grateful for families that recognize the value of camp and want to ensure future teens have the chance to become Alpengirls!

The American Camp Association (ACA) accredits Alpengirl Camp and manages its Campership Fund. Individuals and organizations make financial contributions that are payable to ACA and are designated to the “Alpengirl Campership Fund.”

Please consider making a CAMPERSHIP DONATION that will assist girls in becoming Alpengirls!

Scholarship Application Steps

We encourage you to apply for both scholarships listed here.

For ALL Listed Camp Scholarship Applications Above:

Step 1

Schedule a Call

Schedule a call with Alpengirl leadership to determine if there is space available at your trip(s) of choice and to determine if the Alpengirl program is a good fit for your camper.

Step 2

Decide if you want to register for your space regardless of a scholarship awarded.

If you want to make sure that there is a space saved for you at camp, you’ll need to register for camp online with a $700 deposit and all rules of registration are applied as normal (you’ll be reimbursed overpayments if you receive and accept a scholarship at a later date.)

If you are not able to attend camp without a scholarship, you’ll need to wait to see if you are awarded a scholarship (and determine if the amount awarded is sufficient) before registering online.

Step 3

Submit scholarship materials

Submit the scholarship application along with any other forms or documents required by the application and ALWAYS keep copies of your submitted application materials.

Step 4

Application Review

The waiting time for the Alpengirl Campership will vary.

You may receive a phone call or email within just a few days of applying or you may be waiting several months to receive word of a scholarship decision. You may contact Alpengirl anytime for a scholarship update or session availability update.

A child’s summer camp experience includes new friendships, fun, challenges, and personal growth. We hear from parents consistently that their child returned home with a deepened sense of responsibility for oneself, others, and the environment. There is no better feeling than making that experience a reality, so we look forward to reviewing your Campership Application for Alpengirl Camp.
