June Bug Grew up in Los Angeles, always swimming, surfing and hiking with her family and friends. She began backpacking when she was 13 and immediately fell in love with it!
As she spent more time outdoors, she began to connect her passion for wild places with environmental justice, which led her to pursue environmental justice work in her undergrad, working in outdoor education, urban farming, and environmental health initiatives! Since then, she’s hiked sections of the Pacific Crest Trail and the Appalachian
Trail, and she’s SO STOKED to be back out for this summer season.
In past summers, June Bug has worked on environmental health initiatives and in outdoor education programs in both Maine and California. She’s especially excited about building community, sharing outdoor skills, and helping others form their own connections with nature.
Current Base & Operations:
June Bug is currently based in Berkeley, California where she is finishing her degree in Society and Environment with a focus in Environmental Justice. She is often found not on campus–instead hiking the hills and walking alongside the creeks!
