Work at Alpengirl

We are fully staffed for the 2026 season and are no longer accepting applications. Please check back this fall when applications open for 2027!

Adventure Awaits!

Our trips are only as wonderful as our leaders.

Alpenguides are enthusiastic, inspirational, intrepid outdoor people who are dedicated to creating meaningful and fun opportunities for each and every Alpengirl participant.

We are seeking trustworthy, fun-loving individuals who model the Alpengirl values of adventure and inclusivity, and are passionate about sharing the outdoors with our awesome participants!

Before you apply, dive into the job description so you know exactly what the journey entails.

Qualified Leaders

Our Alpenguides are knowledgeable, prepared, and have the credentials to prove it.

Our leaders maintain current Wilderness First Aid or Wilderness First Responder, CPR, Epinephrine Auto-injector, and Backcountry Food Handling certifications. Some Alpenguides are additionally certified as Lifeguards, Leave No Trace instructors and Yoga Teachers.

Inspirational Role Models

Our Alpenguides are professionals, graduate and college students coming from across the country.

Alpenguides are leaders and educators with a wide range of experience in the outdoors, a love of the wilderness, and a passion for creating safe and fun ways to share it all!

There are only 10-12 participants with 2-3 Alpenguides on the adventures together. We recruit and hire experienced trip leaders each year, and our Alpenguide teams are thoughtfully paired to provide a balanced and dynamic trip experience.

The small size of Alpengirl’s adventures allows each participant to connect with the Alpenguides and blossom in an individually supported way.

Comprehensive Training

Alpenguides attend a 1-2 week on-site training in Bozeman.

This hands-on training includes camping, backpacking, day hiking, hot spring soaking, menu planning and camp cooking, hard skill demonstrations, yoga practice, reviewing maps and detailed trip itineraries, behind-the-wheel van driving practice, practical scenarios in first aid, and risk management.

We also include spontaneous FUN at staff training — talent shows, road side dance parties, costume contests, and Alpenolympic events with prizes — all of the fun things we want to share with our participants!

The biggest and best highlights for the Alpenguides during staff training is bonding with their co-leaders and the entire leadership team, and beginning to get to know their incoming participants through application forms and connecting with participants before their trip starts.

Compensation

We offer competitive guide compensation.

We offer competitive compensation for the full summer season, dependent on experience. Alpengirl’s 2026 summer season runs from June 8 through August 10, 2026, which includes an 9-day on-site staff training in Bozeman. Limited considerations will be made for staff who are unable to commit to the entire summer season. Limited positions are also available in late August through the fall for Alpengirl’s Women’s Adventures.
